The laboratory is an important part of the health center. At our health centers, the laboratory plays a central role in our operations. Here, you’ll meet nursing assistants and nurses with extensive expertise in specimen collection—including blood tests and other tests that are essential for supporting doctors’ and diabetes nurses’ diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
Sampling at Our Facility
In order to have tests done at our facility, your doctor or nurse must first prescribe which tests are to be performed. You can easily schedule an appointment by phone or directly through 1177.
Our testing clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You are also warmly welcome if you have a referral for testing from another healthcare provider—we are happy to collaborate with other parts of the healthcare system.
You will receive some test results immediately during your visit, while others are sent to external laboratories for analysis. Once these are ready, the results will be communicated to you.
Atthe Jägersrohälsan Health Center, thePEth blood test (a test that measures alcohol consumption) is not performed without first informing you, the patient. Youalwayshavethe right to refusetesting, including the PEth test, for any reason. However, it is important to know that if you choose not to provide a recommended sample, this may affect the furtherinvestigation of your symptomsorthe assessment of your medical condition. We always do our utmost to provide the right care, but certain medical decisions require a complete picture—and laboratory tests are sometimes an important part of that.
If you have questions about why a particular test is being recommended, you are always welcome to talk to your treating doctor or nurse.
Not always. Some tests, such as blood sugar or certain blood lipid tests, require that you fast (have not eaten or drunk anything other than water for 10–12 hours). For other tests, it doesn’t matter. This is often stated in your appointment notice or referral—otherwise, you can ask us in advance.
Most people only feel a quick prick that goes away in a second or so. Our staff is experienced and works gently. If you’re worried or have had bad experiences in the past—let us know, and we’ll tailor the testing process to your needs.
It depends on which tests are ordered. You’ll receive the results of some simple tests right away during your visit. Others are sent to a laboratory and may take a few days to a week. You’ll receive the results via 1177 or from the doctor who ordered the tests.
At many health centers, you need to make an appointment, especially if you have a referral from another healthcare provider or if you need specific tests. Some clinics also offer walk-in appointments. Check the specific policies at your health center by calling 1177 or by phone.
Yes, you’re welcome to have tests done here even if the referral comes from another health center, a specialist, or a private healthcare provider—as long as the referral is valid. Please bring your ID and any information from the person who wrote the referral.
